All stillbirths that happen in Alberta are recorded by Alberta Vital Statistics and can only provide stillbirth documents for those particular events. Stillbirth documents that are available to order include a photocopy of a registration of stillbirth and a photocopy of a medical certificate of stillbirth. Certified small and certified large size stillbirth certificates are not available. Alberta residents must apply through a registry agent. Once a registry submits a request or Vital Statistics receives an application it is usually processed within two to three business days assuming that there is no additional information required.
